Grade 3 Descant (168 pieces, 65 pages)

Grade 3 Books are available in two versions: both Descant and Treble in the same book or Descant and Treble as separate books. The first version follows the pattern of Grades 1 and 2 where Descant and Treble are in the same book, back to back. The other version has the two instruments in separate books. Grade 3 Descant has a note range of Low C to High A, fully chromatic. The fingering for some less familiar notes is given at the foot of the page, e.g. Low C sharp and High G sharp. The keys encountered in this book are C, G, D and F major, and A, D, G and B minor. Some ornaments will also be found and simple double tonguing is introduced. The time pattern Dotted Crotchet Quaver is also introduced and there are a few semiquavers. The only new time signatures in this grade are two/two and ‘cut common’ time. This book contains 168 pieces of music, a number of which last a whole page. Sample pages from this book are shown above.

Grade 3 Treble (156 pieces, 63 pages)

Grade 3 Treble can be purchased as a separate book or with Grade 3 Descant. The note range in Grade 3 Treble is low F to high D, fully chromatic. The keys are F, C, G and B flat major and A, D, E, G and C minor. Simple terms and signs are used along with an introduction to double tonguing. The time pattern Dotted Crotchet Quaver is introduced here and the only new time signatures are two/two and ‘cut common’ time. There are 156 pieces of music in Grade 3 Treble. Here, too, a number of pieces last a whole page. Sample pages from this book are shown above.
