The note range for Grade 2 Descant is Low C to High G, 13 notes. Both F natural and F sharp are used together with C sharp, G sharp, D sharp and B flat. In one piece the note Low E flat is used but the fingering is given at the foot of the page. Some dynamics appear along with simple performance directions and articulation signs. Note values and time signatures are as Grade 1. The keys are C, G, and F major, A and D Minor. The music is a little more demanding but nothing beyond a Grade 2 student. Grade 2 Treble (73 pieces, 25 pages)

In Grade 2 Treble the note range is Low F to High C, 13 notes. In addition will be found B flat and B natural, F natural and F sharp, C sharp, G sharp and D sharp/E flat. The time signatures are as Grade 1. The keys are F, C, G and B flat major, A, D and G minor. Some articulation signs and dynamics are used, along with a few performance directions, e.g. Andante and espressivo. Alternative E is indicated with a Roman II under the note. As in all grades, the music is taken from a wide range of styles and periods. Grade 2 Treble and Grade 2 Descant are in the same book, back to back. Sample pages from this book are shown above.
