Grade 5 Descant
The note range at this level is 2 octaves, Low C to very High C, fully chromatic. The keys are as previous grades plus A, E and A flat major, and F minor. Note values are as before but with the addition of semiquaver triplets, demisemiquavers and the breve. Time signatures are also as previous grades but with six/four, twelve/four, four/two and twelve/sixteen added. A feature at the end of the first section is the use of musical abbreviations. (You never know when you might meet them! Some are very common in jazz). There are many good whole-page pieces of music in the book and some pieces are even spread across two pages. A few pieces will be familiar but some may be in unfamiliar keys. Finally, the book ends with a selection of solo parts from various Sonatas etc, all taken from the Standard Repertoire – essential music for the serious Recorder Player. Suggestions for where to find accompaniments are given at the foot of the appropriate page. Sample pages from this book are shown above.
This music is also suitable for: Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Violin, etc.
